Weather

The cold air that ran down the plains pushed up against the side of the mountain, bringing obscured skies and freezing rain to the lower mountain. High on the mountain we drove out of the inversion and looked down on the clouds.

Snowpack

Patchy, previously wetted, and frozen. Even above 13,000 feet, meltwater percolated through the lingering near-surface slabs, leaving now-frozen flow tubes in the irregular patches of depth hoar near the ground.
