Snow Conditions
crusty, hard

Variable snow conditions in the couloir, mostly hard crusty turns but overall skied well. Couloir sheltered well but large cornice on skiers right at the mouth. Skinned majority of the ridge ascent until last 10+m when we needed to boot pack steep solar crust to gain the final traverse. Large cornices on NE aspect are ripe and starting to break away ~5-10cm fracture at base. Probed one with ski pole to test and easily ripped away into a gully. Slope below appeared to hold with no avy triggered. Confidence booster.

Weather

Sunny morning leading to cloud cover mid day. Mod winds, light snow blowing.

Avalanche

5ft wide, 20+ft long, 4ft height 5-10cm fx at base, solar exposure
