Its warming up!

Good day out of Corbin enjoying the less oppressive temperatures. It got up to -8 where we were! The snowpack has been faceting though and its becoming softer. We dug in a bit of a shallow area, 110 cm of snow, and the whole snowpack was way more sugary than it used to be! We had a sudden failure in compression test down 30 on the surface hoar but it did not propagate in our extended column test. This was at 2100m on a SW aspect. The riding quality was actually quite good! Stuck to slopes under 30° and had fast powdery fun. Didn't see any new avalanches but there was a lot of old evidence of the persistent slab problem at treeline!
