We were Abel to make it to Cain, it was biblical!

With 30+cm of new heavy snow falling last night around Campbell River, the highway conditions were adventurous. We had a mix of rain and snow on our drive up to 1000m. Once we got up to Mount Cain, we found the snow was quite wind affected. Throughout our day, there were moderate to strong winds blowing out of the southeast that were extensively transporting snow. We noticed a freezing rain crust had formed above 1500m that was about 1mm thick. This was limiting the snow available for transport at this elevation. The best skiing could be found in the sheltered areas below. We saw evidence of few previous (<12 hour) size 1-2 wind slab avalanches on lee aspects around ridge top, as well as continuous wind loading on these slopes.
