Quick trip into Olive Hut/Catmount Gl. for the weekend. Friday ascent FL observed at ~2500m. widespread crust. Strong overnight winds with M transport in the alpine. Moist snow with moderate slab formation noted. ~80cm HS on glacier. On descent at 12:00 today at lower elevations the crust wast breaking down and snow was becoming isothermic. Rain R-1. below 2300m, 1C. Na avalanches only occurring lower down on saturated rock slab slopes. FL ~ hut elevation 2660m. Few sledders today rooping about in the saturated and very open bog today. Many natural hazards are still exposed in the alpine under a shallow heavy snowpack. Most crevasses are still open and exposed. Ski quality was marginal.
