Weather
Warm temperatures with hardly any wind, and abundant sunshine.
Snowpack
Lots of rollerball activity on southerly-facing slopes above treeline. This is likely due to todays warm temperatures and direct sunshine on cold snow. We observed mixed results in snowpack test in our northeast-facing snowpit near treeline. Easy force ECTPs and moderate force ECTNs breaking in an 18 cm thick, 4F layer of 1 to 3 mm FC at the ground. PSTs failed with cuts lengths of 30/100 cm. Northerly and east-facing slopes below treeline appear to be benefiting from warmer temperatures and less weak snow at the ground. Snowpack test there only produced ECTNs with hard force breaking in a 1F- faceted layer.
