Weather

Intermittent snow showers and cold until midday. Sky’s cleared giving view to many natural avalanches on numerous aspects. SW winds picked up after the storm cleared clearly transporting snow at ridge lines.

Snowpack

Multiple rumbling (tree shaking) collapses in low angled gladed SE facing terrain. ~2’ of storm snow (rapidly settling) on highly reactive thin and collapsible melt freeze crust with weak facets below.

Avalanche

Topped out on a flat bench above gladed terrain at approx 10,600’. Loud booming collapse resulted in remote triggers of 4-5 avalanches on multiple aspects ranging from SE-NE. Largest of remote triggers was approx 1000’ above on the ridge line at 11,600’ on E/SE aspect. Avalanche broke 3-4’ deep, approx 100’ across and ran approx 1700’ Numerous natural avalanches both old and new were observed on N, NE, E, SE and SW aspects. It’s falling apart at the seams….
