Hs at car park was 40 ish, quickly turned into about 60 by the back with pockets up to 90cm. Mostly dense unconsolidated powder that was supportive. We did not observe any wind affect but another group noted old wind slabs buried on the ground on the Lee's of cross loaded pockets and ridge crests which provided excellent support. We did not take any core shots but as with any early season skiing there are Definitely sharks out there, roots on the up track that busted a binding, creeks open ect. emps hovered - 7 to - 10 all day with light snowfall. Avy observation: Noticed a point release of loose dry to size 1.5 out of steep north facing terrain with limited visibility. (See photo) Sluffing was a thing in steeper terrain but slow moving.
