Pointless Gully
Snowpacktsr.yau · Nov 7, 2020 · West Side 93N
Quick report
Ice climbed Pointless Gully. P1 - was thin at the top with the right hand tube having a 3cm+ shell and running water flowing behind. When the sun came out later in the morning, the cave at the base of the climb was dislodging fist size rocks. P2 - climbed the left hand line of the curtain, found a breakable crust on low angle features, but steeper features climbed well overall. Also climbed a 15m ice route ~20m climbers left of the start of Pointless Gully. Well formed, good sticks, and fun climbing.
Weather
Scattered clouds in the morning with moments of sun. This changed around Noon to overcast skies with S-1 snowfall and SW winds, continuing after we left. Temperature at Num Ti Jah Parking was -6 at 3:30pm.

While hiking to the climb, noted very little snow sticking on steep alpine slopes above with the exception of start zone bowl features. 5-10cm of new snow at TL on top of an unsupportive crust while traveling in boots. Post holing through from boot top to knee deep with the occasional waist deep hole in loaded gully features.
