Weather

Sunny skies and much warmer temps on top of the pass than in Creede and Lake City. Cloud cover increasing from the west by early afternoon and light snow showers. No accumulation.

Snowpack

A very noisy and reactive snowpack near treeline and in the higher elevations of the below treeline elevation band. Shooting cracks and rolling collapses were observed on west through north aspect with Extended Column Tests producing easy propagating results at the 12/27 interface. ECTP 6-8 on 2 mm buried facets. Once above treeline, west and northwest aspects become thin and scoured with the exception of crossloaded gullies

Avalanche

Multiple natural avalanches on east through Southeast aspects, mainly near treeline.
