Snowpack
The faceting process has kicked into full gear since our last storm, most evident in the upper snowpack. The depth of near-surface facets varied from northerly to east-facing slopes but is present on those same aspects on both near and above treeline slopes. Despite weakening in the upper snowpack, layers in the bottom of the snowpack remain harder and point to a generally strong early season snowpack. No signs of instability on multiple aspects and ECTs only produced non-propagating results in weak facets near the surface. Persistent weak grains exist in the upper snowpack but lack an overlying slab. Southwest aspects warmed by the afternoon but did not get moist enough to pose wet snow concerns. Bare ground is expanding at lower elevations and on southerly-facing slopes with each passing day of warm weather and sunny skies.
