Very deep powder snow conditions at treeline and above around the stadium glacier area on Sunday. Up to 60cm in places. Began our day with some mellow tree runs and as the clouds opened we ventured higher. Observed some small <1 natural loose dry avalanche activity on NE aspects below co-pilot around noon. Observed approx 20cm of new overnight snow which sat on top of the previous days snow - which could be felt underfoot as an underlying slab when breaking trail. The two layers appeared to be bonding well together and with the older snow underneath. Only observed one small crack in a small wind slab pocket while approaching the ridge above stadium glacier. Dug a hasty pit at the top on the lee side of the ridge to see how the layers were behaving, didn’t conduct formal tests but did observe failure at the interface between the storm slab and older snow about 40cm down, as expected. But this didn’t react at all to ski cutting, weight etc. We skied the slope and the main drainage below the glacier without anything but a small amount of slough triggered.
