Snowpack

Opening the road in the morning 1-2' drifts starting about bible camp. Closer to the quarry 2-4' drifts. Winds were light, with obvious previous wind. No energy in the snow pack as I was undercutting drifts with the grader. Occasional chunks of snow would break off. Afternoon tour to the snow stake on Marble Peak. 150 cm height of snow. New snow was about 15 cm. This layer was graupel with fist hardness. Down to about 40 cm was 1 finger hardness. At 40 cm there is a 2 cm thick layer that is facets. Below this layer is depth hoar, but appears to be rounding with 1 finger hardness. Ect test just crushed the snow up to 40 taps with no propagation. CT test failed on 22 taps at 40 cm with a sudden collapse. Did a deep tap test at 70 cm. This test failed on 15 taps with a sudden collapse as well.
