Amongst the Masses

It was a busy day up Mt.West and people were riding every slope in sight. We saw a few small slabs that were triggered by riders on north through east facing slopes at treeline. They were sliding on a crust about 20-30cm deep. We also saw some small avalanches that were naturally triggered by falling cornices. The area has seen quite a bit of wind and warm temperatures making the upper snowpack quite dense. The best powder was in the trees and the worst riding was in the alpine, especially on windblasted south and west faces.
