Endless Chain

Went for a stroll into the Endless Chain and found the expected conditions. Treeline and below had a supportive crust that was made better with ski crampons on the way up and sharp edges on the way down. 5-10 cm of new snow in the alpine was building wind slabs over varied surfaces with strong west winds and flurries. A size 2 cornice release was directly observed on a north aspect, entraining loose snow with no slab. Other cornices were menacing.
