Weather

Mostly clear and crisp day with moderate and gusty winds above treeline. Hn=2" at Berthoud Summit plot.

Snowpack

Average Hs near and above treeline where we traveled was around 50cm but varied from bare ground to over a meter, depending on wind effects. See pit profiles and picture for more detail. Pit 1 was dug in a more wind loaded location. Pit 2 was dug lower on the slope.

Avalanche

One small (D.5) cornice collapse was observed just below ridge top on SE aspect.
