ECTP 16 Q3 layers: 30 cm windslab one finger hardness, 1cm intermittent ice crust, 15-20cm depth hoar at ground level. Failed on the depth hoar. I did a sidehill traverse of a northeast aspect across multiple short test slopes, and had whoomphing without shooting cracks about every 30' for a good distance. I saw two gentlemen ski a steep couloir above me that was of the same aspect and it did not release. Beautiful line.
