Sunny day. Snowed all day the day before.

Snowpack

Whooping sounds noted on Dec 29 on hill directly behind the Spruce Hill Yurt. Approx. 30 inch of new snow a few days earlier. Several of us experienced whooping sounds on the slopes. Dug a quick hasty pit and noted a hard ice layer approx. 30 inch down.

Avalanche

Propagating Fracture 15 feet from trail on NW facing slope. Looked to be wind loaded snow with small cornice at top.
