Snowpack
Sunday's storm snow in the upper snowpack has settled to 10 cm on the northerly aspects and around 3cm on the west, southwest and south facing slopes. Thin but supportive melt-freeze crust sat below this new snow on all slopes traveled on today. Snowpack on south and southwest aspects near and below treeline is melting rapidly. Steep south aspects near the ghost town (between 11,000-11,600ft) contained a patchwork of bare ground and snow. There may be little snow left of this slope by the weekend. Depth hoar present in snow profiles on N,W,SW aspects at all elevations. It was the most significant concern today.
