Snowpack

Snow surfaces were still soft where we travelled, but we were seeking out sheltered terrain. Minor cracking in open areas below 11,000' where the old snow (prior to last storm) was obviously shallower and weaker and cracking underfoot where the storm snow had settled/lightly drifted to fist+. In these open areas, the skiing was a little more punchy and "upside down" feeling. No cracks observed beyond a ski length.

Avalanche

Observed one slide across the highway in Robert Creek. Appeared to be very fresh, likely ran early AM 12/18.
