snowing....squally with brief periods of heavy snow interspersed with light snow and even the sun would very briefly break through closer to 11am. Windy and gusty out of NW. Lots of blowing snow.
Snowpack
Snowpack is well consolidated. 10-12" of new snow overnight, with another 3 inches falling first part of the day today. New snow bonding well to underlying snow surfaces, but some minor sluffing on steep N facing terrain. Supportable crusts on E and S aspects. Dust layer is evident about 2 feet deep. Strong NW winds were moving lots of snow around, but no slab formation near and BTL. Likely slabs forming ATL later this afternoon, but probably 1 -2 feet thick. The recent storm snow is low density and will settle rapid as temps warm and the sun hits it. No signs of cracking in storm snow and no signs of slab up to 12,000 ft, but could not see much above that.
