Warm days with a Tmax of 26F on the divide today. Periods of light snow, but little accumulation during the day.
Snowpack
The snowpack is settling rapidly with very little, no net gain, and even loss in HS despite some new snow everyday.
Avalanche
Significant natural slab activity occurring today was observed in the lower canyon on the west side of Wolf Creek Pass. Starting zone elevations were generally less than 10,000' and on W-NW aspects. Crowns were deep, may have run on the January faceted old snow/new snow facet layer, and in some places ran to the ground. Although observations were made from the a distance, these had the look of wet slab avalanches. WSNR3D2 x5.
