A surprise today, we saw a recent avalanche just outside the Powder King boundary. A slope in the Kitchen Window had been accidentally triggered by a snowboarder sometime in the last 24 hours. We hiked up for a closer look and found an old windslab that had slid on facets growing on top of the Melt-Freeze crust. That hard melt-freeze crust also allowed us to boot-pack up. We found ok skiing in 5cm of snow that's on top of the crust in lee features and sheltered slopes.
