Snowpack

Three days of skiing near Taylor Pass/ Markley Hut. Aspen Area. Two test pits. 4/22 Northeast aspect at around 10,900 feet. Notice a few distinct moist layers in upper snow pack that produce moderate failer on CT 30cm bellow the surface in the afternoon. These layers were noticeable the next day with ski pole test in the upper snow pack, clearly a weaker moist layer bellow a somewhat strong crust. This layer was less noticeable at higher elevations. 4/24 North aspect around 11,500 feet Very deep HS over 300cm ECTN CT 25 on a melt freeze crust. in the upper snowpack. Middle and Lower snowpack was well rounded, One finger plus to pencil hard without allot of distinct layers. Overall the skiing was supportable above 10,500. Felt one large settlement near the creek that was most likely a moist layer collapsing. New snow slide easily off the ski and we notice some D1 loose snow slides on the new snow old snow interface. New snow settled fast and was no more than 3 inches by Sunday.
