20-30 mph. winds above tree line. Little snow available for transport on northerly facing, wind scoured, hard slab slope above the "picnic spot" on Flattop Mountain. Snow pit dug in wind protected trees.
Snowpack
Snow pit on E-NE facing slope at 10,200'. 30 degree slope. 80-90 cm. snowpack depth. Unsupportable, faceted snowpack. ECT P 12. Q2. 30 cm. F to 4F slab failed on faceted weak layer. Two Tests. Same pit. Same results. Slab propagated at 30 cm. Entire slab propagated on weak layer and half the column dropped. The other half took little resistance to drop.
