Snowpack
Toured up SW gully of Gothic Mountain. AM weather was sunny, calm winds, moderate cloud cover but increasing and warm temps. 12:00-1:00pm the incoming system hit us with rapidly decreasing visibility, light precipitation and increased winds. The deteriorating weather conditions had us chose our line earlier than anticipated. We had no signs of instability or recent avalanche activity. During our bootpack to the top of our descent we found the snowpack really consistent throughout with bootpen mid-shin deep. On our ski down the snow was very stable with minor sluffing on steeper terrain. On our ski down the snow was very stable with minor sluffing on steeper terrain. We did trigger an avalanche below the choke lower down below a cliff. SS, AS, R1, D1, sympathetic release from SS that fell from above. Crown was 6-10" which propagated 15 yards and ran 25-30 yards at most. Other than that no other instabilities and great skiing overall.
