Weather
Cold snowy day in the San Juan's. Snow showers were observed among intermittent blue sky. Temperatures were in the single digest and winds remained light during the tour.
Snowpack
12-15 inches on new snow has fallen in this area in the past two days. The new snow seems to be bonding well to the existing surface near and below treeline on E-W facing slopes. Large cornice features were observed on exposed ridgelines. Below the new snow at lower elevations a stout melt-freeze crust was observed. No avalanche activity was seen, but only had brief moments of blue sky. Did not travel in the Alpine today.
