SE aspect, area sometimes known as Guide's Run, sparsely wooded slope, 25 degrees. 12,150 ft.

Snowpack

1 p.m., pit showed 90 cm total depth. 30 cm of moderately heavy new snow was found on top of 1 cm thick icy crust. When freed on three sides, block of column slid spontaneously on that crust. At snow/ground interface, rounded facets were found, with only slightly apparent air spaces having formed.

Avalanche

Two small point release seen on south facing slopes above timberline, at estimated angles greater than 45 degrees.
