Snowpack
Toured a variety of aspects near treeline. HS ranged from 80-160cms. The whole basin near treeline has captured a lot of snow from the winds of 3-4 days ago. Surface is a mix of hard slab and DF. On almost all aspects a significant slab overlies weaker snow at the ground...but not as weak as we had thought. Overall, we found the snowpack to be strong, the structure to be fair, and propagation propensity of the basal facet layer to be moderate to low. With the recent reported avalanche activity we kept clear of any steep wind-loaded areas and still would not trust those areas despite few results in stability tests.
