Avalanche
Between 1430 and 1440 a large avalanche was witnessed on the S. Face of Hallett Peak. The crown was about 150 m wide and ran 400 vertical meters to the drainage bottom. The avalanche triggered an additional slide lower on the S. face adjacent to the traditional descent route. The 2nd crown was probably a meter deep and 200 m wide. I assume the slide was cornice triggered based on warming, thermal masses (cliff face) and a large divot to the lookers right of the prominent cliff band below the cornice. R2 D2.5. The slope was previously ridden.
