Weather

Bluebird and hot. 24 degrees at 8:30 a.m. 55 at 1:00 p.m. at parking - north aspect in trees, 8,800 feet.

Snowpack

In area - variable. Crust (early) or slop (late) on sunny aspects, cold recycled pow in shade and northerly aspects. Dug a hasty pit on adjacent lower angled slope of same elevation and aspect as avalanche. Snowpack 150 cm deep. From top - powder 20 cm fist, 30 cm fingers, remainder rotten facets to ground.

Avalanche

On Babbish gulch headwall, north aspect. Started in trees on slope of estimated angle low 40's. Crown estimated 50-70 cm. Ran approx. 150 feet. Elevation 9,650 feet. No new snow covering so must have ran after snow stopped on March 4 but before March 6 when it was observed from afar.
