Avalanche
Several large hard slab avalanches seen on slopes ranging from east to northeast, slope angles at 35-40 degrees, near/above treeline, 10,800-11,000 elevation. All avalanches appeared to run during the storm cycle this previous weekend (1/4-5/2014). Crowns ranged from 2-10 feet in height, and sizes were several hundred feet across- R3/D3 to R4/D4 Trigger for all appeared to be natural/unknown. Failing surface layer appeared to be depth hoar since all failed to ground. Important thing to remember from this is not all slopes on these aspects failed, which will remain highly probable for future avalanches.
