Excellent skiing quality in Little Sands area, south of the cabin. Snow was deep and fresh. Kept to the trees but still found some avalanche terrain. More info in avalanche tab.

Avalanche

Skied mellow trees for most of the day. At one point found ourselves in some steeper terrain (west aspect) than we felt comfortable with, and at the same time saw a shooting crack. One member of team inched forward trying to find the safest way down and released avalanche at crown. Avalanche ran 80-100m and spread wide, probably 60m at least, but it was hard to tell in the trees. Crown was 30-40cm. Estimate size 2, it was quite large. No one caught up or injured thankfully. Went and skied some more mellow trees on a northerly aspect and released a size 1 avalanche there, no one caught or injured. This one did not run very far but crown was 40cm. Called it a day at that point. Lots of sled groups up there but didn't hear about any avvy action from those guys.
