We spent the day riding fast pow in the north bowl of Log Cabin. Soft, buckle top packed pow on top of wind pressed surfaces made for great riding. We were fairly sheltered from the moderate to strong south winds back there but we could see them transporting snow quite intensely from the south at ridge top. We gave the alpine head wall plenty of space as we did note active wind loading in steep, north facing alpine pockets. We also noted 3-4 smaller but fresh wind slab avalanched that had released from these features and run about 75 meters into the talus slopes below. We did travel on some wind slab at treeline but it was quite welded in and unreactive to ski cuts. Riding mellow slopes under these snow conditions is quite fun as the snow is running fast and the terrain is still quite featured.
