Snow Conditions
heavy, powder, crusty

Snow was quite marginal on the road. And a hard melt-freeze crust dominated bellow 1500 m. Above treeline snow was dryer and softer. There was signs of old pinwheeling and loose slides on south facing slopes of Bill Nye. We choose shaded North Facing chutes off Lakit Mountain where we found stable deep dense powder; chutes exited through Size 2 Avelanche Debris perhaps a week old. Unfortunately, one member of our party snapped a a ski on the second turn in the chute making the well tracked crusty ski out considerably more challenging.
