Sun crust on easterly, powdery surface in shaded and northerly aspects. Heard several large whips as I was working my way up through thick trees. Sounded like a bomb. 3 foot deep hasty pit did not yield the layer I heard collapse but it was deep. Glad I picked the right terrain !
Avalanche
Two chutes of n blackface had slid naturally (looks like 48 or mor hours prior to my visit) Easterly aspects around 11,000. Natural slides started at top of blackface approx 12,000 ft
