Snowpack
Three pits dug near San Miguel peak. The common tread is a stiffening mid-pack over early season rotten snow. Good news is snow is getting further from the surface and being compacted as the snowpack continues to grow. The stiffness of the slab decreased as we dropped in elevation and moved into terrain that is less impacted by the wind. Snowpack tests gave limited results but not something to hang our hat on just yet. Though it seems out snowpack is moving in the right directions the Persistent Slab avalanche structure is alive and well in the San Juan's. I think it will take a big punch to see Naturals break at the ground with this next set of storms, but not out of the question.
