Weather

Below freezing temperatures throughout the day with on and off snowfall only exceeding a precipitation rate of S-1 on the drive into Woody Creek around 08:00. Temperatures stayed below freezing above 10,000 feet throughout the day with a couple short periods of sunshine peeking through a Broken sky cover.

Snowpack

We found a weak non-cohesive snowpack consisting of almost entirely facets on northerly aspects around 11,000 ft. None of the layers we identified were harder than 4F on the hand hardness scale and ECT results had failures in the lowest layer of facets that did not propagate across the column (ECTN). The location where we dug a snowpit had about 3 inches of new snow.
