Weather
S-1 to S2 most of the day. Overcast in the morning, then a brief clearing as winds shifted from south to west around 11:30AM. Then it got overcast again and snow picked up. Still snowing when we left around 1:30PM. There was about 4 inches new at 9:30AM, and an additional 3 inches or so accumulated between then and 1:30PM.
Snowpack
Southerly wind really did some damage to surface conditions overnight and early this morning. Areas of stiff wind slab were widespread in open areas, alone ridgelines, and at elevations above about 11,200 ft. Evidence of significant cornice development in the last 24 hours. Some of these collapsed naturally.
Avalanche
Two small natural Wind Slab avalanches off the ridge on steep north-facing slopes.
