Packed powder conditions in Montana Bowl making railing down GS turns very nice! Travel was mostly on wind-scoured ridge and windward slopes. Did not observe wind slabs there but there may very well be some on lee terrain (think Highway Bowl). Since we had very little intel on conditions here, we dug a pit on a cross-loaded feature similar to what we would ski on the west face of Montana Peak. Results were promising. No slab properties for the storm snow yet, no propagation of weak layer on the rain crust. Right side up snow from F to 4F with 4F Nov 5 rain crust layer down 70cm. No Na activity today. . Aspect: W, Elevation: 2210m, cross-loading from micro-ridge in alpine terrain CTE 3, 4 (SP) down 20cm (storm snow), F snow CTH 23,26 (SP) down 70cm on 0.5mm facets (top of faceted rain crust), 4F snow
