Quick report

Weather
cloudy

Climbed Nightmare on Wolf Street Saturday. Windy in the alpine on the approach but it died down by 9/10am. On the approach we observed significant sluff (size 1.5ish) come down over French Reality at 8am. Minimal snow in the valley and treeline. Nov 5 rain crust observed all the way up to the routes, 10-25cm snow on top. Putting in the trail was not fun, we didn’t know exactly where the normal trail went so don’t follow it if you are familiar with the trail to French Reality area.

My partner and I roped up (simuled) for the entire traverse along the base to Nightmare. Accidentally set a size 1 off at the beginning (obvious small slide path in trees where spindrift/snow collects - see photos). Slid on the rain crust, crown up to 25cm in places. Snow on the open slopes (the rest of the traverse) felt more supportive, as was the rain crust. Avi gear worn all day.
