The wind effect in open areas was very noticeable. Sometimes along the skin track on the ridge you couldn’t even notice where the first person walked - as the snow was so tough. The trees were softer but still crusty up higher, softening as we descended. Coverage was good enough not to worry about the ground for about 80% of the way down until it thinned substantially.
