Bluebird day with moderate, gusty southerly winds. Quite warm, with highs reaching into the 40's on the top of Red Mountain Pass
Snowpack
Southerly slopes are melting fast. Below 10,000' on steep, sun-exposed slopes the snow was wet by early afternoon. Rollerballs and small, full-depth wet loose slides were plentiful along the 550 corridor south of Molas Pass. Shadier and flatter slopes remained cold. Very little loose dry activity on these slopes today, despite warm temperatures. Wind crusts which have developed over the past week were likely a factor in limiting this kind of activity. Wet snow was shedding off of the cliffs in the Gorge, and several slides made the inside lane, one crossed centerline.
