Avalanche

Skinning up Garret Peak, Elk Mountains we were at 10,500 elevation on the NorthEast facing slope at 1:00pm 1/24/17 when a 25-30ft slab broke off and created a slide about 100meters long. Skiing underneath the avalanche when it broke off. Once we hit around 10,500 - 11,000 elevation, the snow really started to break into slabs around us in which point we decided to turn around and ski down through the trees. There was 3 people in our group, the first one went down no problem and then I went down and the 3rd person started the break from the side and it just shot across and broke off a slab. This was the only time we really poked out of the trees.
