It did not feel like April! It was cold and snow was blowing and falling.
Snowpack
Below treeline the snow depth was around 200cm, and there was about 10cm of new snow on top of the April 15, melt-freeze crust, snow beneath felt like a mix of crusts and firm 1 finger or harder snow. Near and above treeline there was about 250cm of snow, with about 15 to 20cm of new storm snow. On northerly and easterly aspects, the storm snow was sat on cold soft snow from the previous weekend's storm. These two layers seemed to be bonded well. In some areas, there was a reactive windslab developing that was at most four to six inches thick and came off easily in hand shears where it was found. The winds were actively loading lee slopes, so this slab will continue to thicken and become a problem.
