Weather
Warm and spring-like. High clouds in afternoon limited warming.
Snowpack
South through east have a melt freeze crust at the surface. East is slightly more fragile with small faceted grains above and below. Saw one new small wet-loose slide on a south aspect at 11,800 feet. Southeast aspects are gaining strength but poor structure still remains. I got some pics and a closer look at an avalanche that occurred toward the end of the last storm on February 24. This slide likely failed initially near the ridge as a new snow wind slab and then stepped down into weak snow mid-pack and at the ground in a few spots. Some of the debris was over 10 feet deep. This set-up may be isolated and is becoming more and more unlikely but it does continue with the trend of small pockets on south through east aspects failing at older crust/facet combinations after each significant new load.
