Cool temps early with just a few clouds. Definitely some wild fire smoke drifting through (Arizona?). Looked really smoggy toward Steamboat and over the South Park caldera. Mid-day clouds thickened and lowered with a noticeable greenhouse feel. More or less cleared later afternoon. Not much wind at the pass but a little blowing snow above 13k
Snowpack
Breakable crust on the old railroad grade. Good for quadriceps. Not much else
Avalanche
Bald Mountain-2-SSNR1D1O’s south aspect, in a cross loaded west facing gully feature. Started at around 12,800’, ran maybe 100 feet. Could not get a width or depth from my vantage. Steep terrain
