Snowpack

8"-10" of snow fell in the past 48 hours. The new snow came in warm and bonded fairly well to the existing surface at lower elevations. Northwest wind during the storm were strong enough to drift snow onto leeward slopes. The sun would quickly settle the storm snow even during very small breaks in the clouds. With the return of snowfall came a return of freezing temperatures. Crusts were observed under the new snow and supportable to my weight on slopes above 10,500 feet but less supportive below 10,500 feet.
