Snowpack
I found dry snow except in small, localized spots on north and east aspects near tree line that had direct sun and wind protection. Wind loading was observed on east aspects near tree line from today's northwest wind. A snow pit on northwest aspect below tree line held dry snow and multiple melt freeze crust/ facet combinations. I did not get results on extended column tests until a 34th tap when propagation occurred on depth hoar. A snow pit on protected northeast aspect near tree line had warming surface snow, but dry layers underneath. I also found multiple melt freeze crust and facet/rounding facet combinations that only produced minor cracking on stability tests. On a shallow north aspect near tree line, a propagation saw test produced a score of 48/100 (End) with sudden collapse on depth hoar. Extended column tests here produced scores of ECTX and ECTP29 on also depth hoar.
