Snowpack
Investigating north near-treeline terrian, we felt a collapse as we stepped off my skis,no cracking noted.Mid pack snow is 1F an dsupportable to skis and small people. HS: 60cm. ECTP8/PSTEnd 30/100. Failure at the October snow. The upper 15cm is faceting, However, we poked around across several slopes and the October layer was really inconsistent to non-existent. Folks were skiing east near and below with no signs of instability. West below and near treeline slopes showed the effects of the recent strong west winds. Snow that remained on these slopes was plastered to a 10-30cm thick breakable wind slab. Sheltered areas remain soft. HS varied from 30-90cm.
